About Maria Kahn

Maria is an experienced mindfulness practitioner and guide with over 25 years of dedicated practice.

Maria’s journey into mindfulness began in 1997 while studying philosophy at Buffalo State University, where she was introduced to the transformative power of Mindful Inquiry. Since then, she has passionately embraced mindfulness as a way of life and joyfully serves her life's purpose by guiding others.

A cross-cultural perspective on mindfulness

Throughout her career, Maria has had the privilege of working and studying alongside esteemed mentors and masters from various countries, including Japan, China, India, Burma, and Vietnam. These invaluable experiences have provided her with a unique and cross-cultural perspective on the role of stress in different life circumstances. Having traveled to over 30 countries across the globe, Maria has gained profound insights into the universal nature of stress and its impact on individuals, couples, families, and even corporate teams.

Guiding others on their mindfulness journey

In 2012, Maria established a private practice. As a mindfulness guide, she incorporates a patient and compassionate approach, allowing her students to tap into their deep, internal resources. She skillfully assists individuals in uncovering the root causes of their stressors, empowering them to develop effective strategies for managing and transforming stress from within. Through Mindful Inquiry, Maria helps her clients manage through chronic stress and anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, PTSD, relationship issues, unexpected life changes, elderly parent care, challenging family dynamics, and more. 

In addition to her private practice, Maria has made significant contributions to the field of mindfulness. She created and implemented the first Mindfulness program for the Institute for Shipboard Education, Semester at Sea and co-created GRASP, a results-driven, guided self-leadership program grounded in the applications of mindfulness and mindful inquiry.

With her wealth of experience, extensive travels, and profound understanding of mindfulness, Maria is dedicated to guiding individuals, couples, families, and corporate teams towards greater well-being and resilience. Through her compassionate and direct guidance, she enables others to cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness and inner peace, ultimately transforming their lives for the better.
